Your smile is one of your most personal features, and it’s often the first thing people notice about you. So, if you’re embarrassed to smile because of a damaged, decayed, broken or cracked tooth, we’re proud to offer you a fast, modern and beautiful solution.
A2Z Dental Clinic can restore your smile with the natural-looking, durable option of porcelain dental crowns. Dental crowns completely cover or “cap” your tooth to restore its shape, giving you back full function and a natural look.
Porcelain crowns may not always be the best option to restore function and gold crowns may be better suited, A2Z Dental Clinic also offer gold crowns when needed.
The Dental Crown Process
At the first visit, to prepare your tooth, we carefully remove the damaged portion, along with any signs of tooth decay. Sometimes it may be necessary to rebuild the tooth using filling materials as part of the core for the crown. After tooth preparation the dentist may take an impression or use our CAD-CAM scanner to scan your prepared tooth and make a highly detailed 3D image. With this information, our computerised CAD-CAM machine precisely creates your dental crown to our exact specifications. Teeth that are not suited for CAD-CAM crowns will have their scans or impressions sent to selected Specialised labs to have the crowns custom-made.
Generally the dentist will manufacture and fit a temporary crown on this first visit until the permanent crown is fitted.
Once securely cemented in place, dental crowns give you a strong restoration that can last for years. As for caring for our natural teeth, good oral hygiene, a balanced diet and proper maintenance are required to safeguard the longevity of a crown.
CAD-CAM is an acronym that means computer-aided design-computer-aided manufacturing.
At A2Z Dental Clinic we have CAD-CAM scanners as well as a CAD-CAM milling machine which enables our technician to manufacture “same-day” porcelain inlays, onlays, crowns and bridges.
